In those challenging parenting moments...

As parents we make mistakes. We get it wrong sometimes. Ok, maybe more often than sometimes. I keep this quote on my work desk to remind me that when I feel completely lost as to what to say or what to do, I can return to this as a guide. "The way we connect with children, the words we use and the way we comfort, shapes their inner voice." Of all the roles we have as parents, surely this is an important one. This doesn't mean that we forego demanding accountability, avoid setting boundaries, or protect our children from the natural consequences of their actions. It does mean that as parents we are challenged to find a way to address difficult behaviours, while still communicating to our children their inherent worthiness of love and affection.
