Be the one that smiles first

Especially today, as we rush about finishing preparations for Christmas, be the one that smiles first. Let kindness lead. Smile first at your fellow shopper, fellow runner, dog walker, sales assistant or neighbour. Give a smile to the child who is tired of grocery shopping, the mum who’s searching for last minute Christmas gifts with a toddler, and the driver in the car park taking a little too long to negotiate a space. If a smile comes your way in return, well that’s a lovely moment of connection. If not, that’s ok too. Our expectations sometimes get in the way of the loveliest gifts. We don’t know the good a smile can do for another. Just as a flame can light a hundred candles, small acts of kindness send love out in to the world. You might just brighten your own day too.
